10.17 Friday Faves - The Fitnessista

Hi friends! Happy Friday! What’s going on this weekend? We’re meeting up with friends for dinner, heading to a fun fall festival, and are touring a high school for Liv (how?!). For now, I’m just taking an easy morning with my Lumebox and my PEMF mat. The weather has been a dream this week, so I’m hoping we can sneak in a family hike. I’d love to hear what you’re up to!

It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below.

10.17 Friday Faves

Fashion + beauty + random:

NYC adventures! We had the best fall break trip to NYC. It was P’s first time, and it definitely lived up to her high expectations. She couldn’t believe how tall the buildings were and how many things there are to do. Both kids were blown away by the amazing shopping, the gorgeous scenery of Central Park, and all of the incredible food options.

Some of the highlights:

Seeing Six with the fam! Liv and I saw the touring production and LOVED it, and I figured it would be the perfect family Broadway show since we’ve already seen the Disney productions. It’s not wildly inapproriate – there is some innuendo that will totally fly over younger kids’ heads – and it’s short and sweet. No intermission and more of a concert-type vibe. This cast was insane – Heart of Stone almost had me sobbing into my cup of white wine – and everyone loved it. P said she wants to see it again!

Pizza at Don Antonio. Pizza like this always perplexes me in the best way. It’s doughy, briny, flavorful, not greasy. How is it that 99% of gluten free pizzas are horrible when treasures like this exist?! It IS possible to make the perfect gluten-free pizza… you just need to hop on a plane to get it.

(Always the margherita with anchovies)

Modern Bread and Bagel. I’ve followed them on Instagram forever and added it to our must-eat list. P is also gluten-free, and we’re both often disappointed by gluten-free bagels and donuts. This place had both, and they were more amazing than I could ever explain. They tasted like the REAL deal! NYC is really doing it right, friends.

(I loved it so much I went back the next day for bagels to bring home in my suitcase. The good news is that they ship!!)

Museum of Natural history. Liv and I went to this years ago and wanted to take P. She was blown away by the exhibits and we all enjoyed wandering around. It’s easy to spend a few hours here and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Central Park. We walked around Central Park for a couple of hours and found a beautiful grassy field where we could chill and the kids could run free. This was a point where I envisioned my New York life and what it would be like to just hang out here in the middle of the workday or during a weekend. The liiiiife.

Sculpt Society with friends!! I reached out to my friend Heather, whom I’ve known forever through the blog world but haven’t seen in years, and was so excited that she could meet up for a Sculpt Society class in the UES. The studio was gorgeous and we were able to take class from Matt, who is one of my favorite TSS instructors. (I love them all, though!) It was so great to catch up with Heather and to also meet and hang out with a blog reader friend, Sana!

Sana reached out because she lives in NYC, and I asked if she wanted to meet up for class. I love meeting blog reader friends in real life. Often you guys will tell me that you feel like you know me from reading the blog, but it goes the same way – I feel like I know so many of you (especially my OG reader friends) after all of these years.

With Sana and Heather:

(she brought sweetest gluten-free goodie package! The girls and I had the best dessert picnic on the flight home)

As far as class goes, I LOVED it. It went by super fast and it killed my inner thighs. Matt was a delight in person, too. I adore his energy and teaching style and am so happy I had the opportunity to take a class with him.

We also shopped, ate so much delicious food, walked around everywhere, and just enjoyed the city. NYC is such a magical place and I’m hoping it’s not 6 years until we’re back 😉

(just a little shout out here for our beloved Amex platinum! We used our $100 RESY dining credit, $200 back on the hotel stay, points for our hotel, and free lounge access for this trip. If you decide to check it out, my referral link is here. My of my credit card travel tips are in this post.)

Olive Rose is heeeeere! I’ve been waiting for this day for months as I shake my empty Skin Tint bottle. It’s lightweight, buildable, and like skincare and makeup in one. I also ordered some of the lip butter and blush to try, along with a restock of my beloved shower gel.

Read, watch, listen:

Reading this right now and it’s fascinating to see how tongue posture, swallowing, breathing, etc affect facial shape and structure. (Beyond the physical impact, proper breathing mechanics make a huge difference for sleep and nervous system!)

Are you watching Dancing with the Stars? If so, who are you cheering for this season??

Don’t forgot to check out this week’s podcast episode with medical intuitive Rachel Reimer here.

Fitness, health, and good eats:

Canopy has a new air purifier! You guys know I’m obsessed with Canopy products, and this new air purifier is sleek and gorgeous, plus you can stack it with the bedside humidifier. The perfect combo! Use FITNESSISTA here for 15% off.

Can’t wait to make my favorite pumpkin chili recipe.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! Have an amazing weekend and I’ll see ya soon!

xoxo
