My Hack to Making ANY Oatmeal High Protein
My goal during this past weight loss cycle was to hit 150 g of protein/day. And even though I’ll never get sick of scrambled eggs for breakfast, I snuck in extra protein everywhere I could, including adding egg whites to oatmeal.
✅If you haven’t done this before, this is my method:
Mix
🟢1/3 cup oats with
🟢2/3 cup water
Cook in microwave for 60 seconds. Stir and cook 30 seconds longer.
Then stir in
🟣1/2 cup liquid egg whites
Return to microwave and cook for 30 seconds longer.
After that, I flavor it! It is the best base for a hearty oatmeal breakfast I have found!
Hearty and Healthy Ingredients in This Birthday Cake Protein Oatmeal
- Oats – Did you know that oats are packed with fiber? They are also great for supporting weight loss because they keep you full for longer than many other carb options!
- Water – Some people use milk to make their oatmeal but I don’t think it changes the flavor enough to be worth the extra calories! I think water works just as good!
- Egg Whites – This is the key ingredient for making this a protein packed recipe! One cup of egg whites has 26 grams of protein!
- Almond Extract – I love this flavor! To me it makes it taste like an almond based cake!
- Sprinkles – You can use any sprinkles you want! I used the rainbow sprinkles because they are what I have on hand but I also think they are the most birthday-esque!
- Whipped Cream – I always go for sugar free! It tastes just as good and for a fraction of the calories! This add the creaminess and is kind of like the frosting on the cake!
